Ingredients:
1 pkg dry yeast
1/4c warm water
2T melted lard or shortening
1tsp salt
4 1/2 c sifted flour
1 c water
Directions:
Dissolve yeast in water in large mixing bowl.
Add melted lard, blending thouroughly.
Add flour alternately wth water in small amount, beating well after each addition.
The last amount may have to be kneaded into dough by hand.
Shape the dough into a ball and place in greased bowl.
Brush top of dough with melted lard and cover with tea towel.
Allow to rise in warm place for hour (until double size)
Punch down dough for 5 min.
Divide into two and shape into round loaves.
Place loaves on greased cookie sheet and cover with towel.
Allow to rise 15 min.
Bake 400 for 50min or until lightly browned.
